Whitey in hot pursuit.

Michael White (owner of Blue Ribbon Sales, representing Simms, and other lines in the Rockies) is on site at Andros South this week with Charlie Craven and a great group of guys.  Here’s his report from today on the rigors of South Andros in January.

“All is well here at Andros South. Today we continued to have killer weather. Winds were light and the sun was out! Actually this entire week has blessed us with good weather. Days have been in the 80s with some sporadic clouds and a nice light breeze. It’s funny that we have the entire island and its amazing fishing resource to ourselves…after all January is supposed to be sketchy weather. At least that’s what they’d have you believe. Back home in Colorado, it’s been 15-20 degrees and snowing. It’s quite a nice change in the middle of the winter for me. That’s one of the reasons I enjoy this time of the year on South Andros.

I tell people all the time how killer this fishery is in November, December and January. It’s a great escape from the winter weather and poor trout fishing in most areas. Today I landed some pretty nice bones, the biggest being about 6, and I saw some even bigger boys cruisin’ the flats. Not a bad day in January!”

Hi Mark,

Thanks much for stopping by! Yes, big flies with #2 being to go-to size. Here’s an article with some recommendations–
