The Art of Alaska West Guide Jim Palmersheim

That's a pastel, believe it or not. Art by Jim Palmersheim.

Most of our past and current Alaska West guests know Jim Palmersheim as a super-mellow, very friendly, mega-fishy guy who’s not above handing you a hot, riverine cup of French-pressed espresso mid-swing.  All true.

What you might not know—probably because Jim’s far too humble to talk about himself—is that he’s a world-class pastel artist when he’s not attached to a net or the tiller handle of a jet boat.  Not only does he teach at the University of Idaho-Moscow (a short, not coincidental drive away from the legendary Clearwater River and her steelhead) and have art in permanent collections at Boeing, AT&T and the Boise Art Museum, he’s currently being featured in Ketchum, Idaho’s Kneeland Gallery.

Have a look at Jim’s work when you get a chance.
