Why fish barbless flies?
- The hook does much less damage to the fish’s mouth.
- You do less damage to the fish overall when you release it – because it’s so much easier to pop the hook out and send him on his way.
- It’s a bit more ‘sporting’, requiring you to keep pressure on the fish during the fight.
- Barbless nose jewelry does much less damage upon removal from anglers’ faces.
It can be windy in Patagonia, and if even you’re a great caster like Rebecca, sometimes the fly strays off its intended path.
