Fly fishing tugs at the heart-strings of all of us here at Deneki Outdoors, and we’re super lucky to spend our work days sharing spectacular fisheries with great people. We have many of you to thank for that for that, so first and foremost, thanks!
As a matter of fact, we have a lot of things to be thankful for. Far too many for a single blog post in fact, but here are the first 12 that came to mind.
What on earth, or at least on the water, are you thankful for? Leave us a comment below and let us know!
Corpses, zombies, rotting flesh, skeletons.. While that might sound like October 31st to most, that sounds more like August in our neck of the woods.
Each summer, towards to end of our season at Alaska West, thousands upon thousands of salmon complete their life cycle, littering the banks in an image that more closely resembles the set of The Walking Dead, than your typical trout stream.
Spooky? Sort of, but in a good way. This massive die off of corpses provides much needed nutrients to the surrounding ecosystem, not the least of which includes feeding our flesh-eating population of resident rainbow trout, dolly varden, and Arctic grayling. It’s like Halloween all summer long, and we dig it..
We’re really lucky to spend our year delivering fishing trips in several different countries to a whole bunch of great people hailing from all over the world.
That said, we’re really proud to be based out of the good ol’ U.S. of A. and wish all of you a safe and happy 4th of July.
Happy Birthday America!
Today’s post is dedicated to all the fishy couples out there. We hope you’re sharing the water with the one you love.
But, if you can’t be with the one you love, well, love the fish you’re with.
