During a recent week at Andros South, we were shocked to learn that a very experienced angler in the group didn’t know one of the most fundamental rules in all of fishing. Today we help spread the word. This is important stuff, folks, so listen up.
If you’re running in a boat and your hat gets blown off, upon retrieval of said hat, you need to scoop water with it and put it immediately back on your head. This is your penalty for not keeping track of your hat.
Boat Passenger Responsibilities
As a passenger in a boat, you don’t have to do much.
- Sit there.
- Talk with your buddy.
- Look at the scenery.
- Prevent your hat from flying off into the water behind you.
Whether you use the Buff-Over-The-Hat Trick or the Arm-Through-The-Visor Trick or just the simple Take-It-Off-And-Hold-It Trick, do your best to keep your hat in the boat. If you fail, you must remember and follow the rule – Retrieve, Scoop, Replace.
